Game rules
Preparation: 2 or more people; each person has five dice and a dice cup. It is first agreed that each person can re-roll 0 or 1 times, and the player with the lowest card type in each round will receive a unit penalty.
- Everyone rolls the dice at the same time and opens their cups, and finds three of their five dice that add up to exactly 10.
- If you can find such a set, you have a “Niu”. Add the remaining two and take the single digit as the card type: 9 is Niu 9, 8 is Niu 8, and so on.
- If the remaining two dice total 10, you have “Niu Niu,” which ranks above Niu 9; if no three dice total 10, you have “No Niu,” which ranks below all Niu hands.
- If a reroll was agreed before the game, a player with No Niu may reroll all five dice; if they still cannot make 10 after using their reroll, their hand remains No Niu.
- Hands rank from highest to lowest as follows: Niu Niu, Niu 9, Niu 8... Niu 1, No Niu. The lowest receives one unit.
- If several players tie for the lowest hand, only those players reroll a round until the lowest hand is determined.
Example: 1, 3, and 6 are exactly 10, and the remaining 4 and 5 total 9, so it is Niu 9; 1, 3, 6 combined with 4 and 6 is Niu Niu.
