Game rules

Preparation: 2 or more players; each player needs a dice cup and five dice. Use rock-paper-scissors to choose the first player.

  1. Everyone rolls their dice at the same time and secretly checks their own dice without showing anyone else.
  2. The first player calls “X Ys,” claiming that all players together have at least X dice showing Y. For example, “four 5s” means there are at least four dice showing 5.
  3. The next player must either raise or challenge. To raise, increase X; if X stays the same, Y must be higher.
  4. For calls from 2 through 6, all 1s count as the called number. When 1 is called, only dice actually showing 1 count.
  5. When someone challenges, everyone opens their cups. If the number of dice showing the called number is at least X, the challenger loses; if it is fewer than X, the last player to raise loses.
  6. The loser takes one unit of punishment, then everyone rolls again. The loser of the previous round calls first in the next round, unless another order was agreed in advance.

Example: If the previous player called “four 5s,” you can call “four 6s” or “five 2s,” but not “four 3s.”
