Game rules

Preparation:5 or more people gather in a circle and use rock-paper-scissors to choose the first player. In some places it is called “Captain Cook”; you can add "Mona Lisa" after you become familiar with it.

  1. Each round starts by choosing a group from “Hu → Ke → Chuan → Zhang” or “Meng → Na → Li → Sha”. You can shout only one word at a time, or you can shout multiple words in sequence, and then point to the next person after shouting.
  2. The person pointed to continues with the next syllable. You may point to yourself and continue when it is your turn again. The same round cannot be changed to another set of passwords midway.
  3. Captain Hook: The player who says “Zhang” points to someone to be the captain. The captain bends their index finger to make a boat hook and calls “Hu-ke” three times; the neighbors on either side row outward and call “Hei-xiu” three times.
  4. Mona Lisa: The player who says “Sha” points to someone to play Mona Lisa. The player immediately struck a portrait pose, and his left and right neighbors simultaneously surrounded the frame with their hands.
  5. Whoever makes a wrong word, pauses for more than three seconds, misses the pointer, or makes the wrong move loses; if multiple people make mistakes at the same time, everyone loses. The losers each receive one unit and start the next round.

Example: A says “Meng-Na” and points to B → B says “Li” and points to themselves → B says “Sha” and points to C → C poses as Mona Lisa, and the neighbors on both sides of C form the frame.
